San Fran

Brad, being the most wonderful boyfriend in the world, decided to take me to San Fran to visit my best friend for my 30th birthday. What an awesome gift! He truly is incredible.

So, on Thursday of last week, we headed to San Fran just for the weekend and had an absolute blast. As far as cities go, San Fran is one of the best in my opinion. It certainly is a city by all means but it just seems more friendly to me than NYC or ATL. Another added bonus is that everything is literally within walking distance of his apartment so though we walked all day everyday, I do think we got to see most of the highlights which is what i wanted to accomplish.
Jason was quite the tour guide, he has had some practice as he runs some Segway Tours throughout the wharf and G. Square. What a blast!! We did feel like the ultimate tourists but it was really cool. He is an incredible tour guide and riding the segways everywhere didn't hurt either:)

Our stay was short but it was so great to be able to spend that time together. We had some great dinners, I highly recommend "Greens" which is a vegetarian/organic resturant that gets it's produce from "Green Gulch" an intentional community within SF.

I also highly recommend sushi in the Castro. The Castro is one of my favorite places in SF, it's so inviting and welcoming, I always enjoy my time there.

All in all, we played the ultimate tourist with the two most important men in my life (excluding my father of course) and had an incredible time. It's worth the trip for a weekend in SF! From shopping at the mercantile to a walking tour at top speed through down-town, there is an abundance to do within the city limits. Next time we will head to the outdoors for some more fun in the sun!

My First Blog

Well, upon urging from a few of my friends I have decided to create my own blog. Now, I have to say that though I was on the cusp of this technological generation I do believe that it all flew right over my head. I am really not very good at this type of thing and so at this point I'm pretty proud of myself. I think it was the urging from Maggie who mentioned that even her grandmother had a blog that put me over the edge....so thanks Mags and here I go:)

I decided to name my blog "the next phase" because that is exactly what's going on in my life right now. I am in the midst of this "next phase" and for the most part, it's been great I have to say. I moved out to Steamboat about 8 months ago now with my significant other and we have never looked back.

Steamboat just has this magnetism about it, we (like many others) came here just for the ski season and just never left. We're doing the real job thing and just closed on our house so it looks like our roots are actually begining to find hold in the middle of God's country out here and I couldn't be happier.

Our house is located in Phippsburg, lovingly noted as P-Burg, which is about 25 - 30 minutes from the heart of Steamboat. There is something about that drive in the mornings and in the evenings which just invigorates me. This whole valley is surrounded by scenery that can not be described but must be witnessed by all at some point in their lives. It really is awe inspiring...and much better than the commute in Atlanta. No offense to my friends in ATL but after living there briefly, I will take this commute over that one any day!!!

So, all in all life is moving along rapidly and wonderfully in Steamboat Springs, Co!
