Mother's Day

I hinted to my sweet husband that I would like a canoe for this Mother's Day:) Imagine my surprise when he told me that he was indeed getting me a canoe:) We're not actually getting it until he gets back from Turkey at the end of June but that's ok. I had no intention of taking it out with just Cyrus anyway:) So, I couldn't be more thrilled. We've got some camping and canoeing adventures in our future this summer!!

My little man, on the other hand, made me a very sweet Mother's Day gift at school:) I love his school, and I love him so much:)

Back To The New!!

We took Cyrus on his first "real" camping trip this past weekend. We met Laurie at the New River Gorge in WV to do some rock climbing, mtn. biking and hiking. I was so excited. I have spend many a day at the New climbing throughout my career as a sponsored rock climber and haven't been there for about 10 years. So, you can imagine my disappointment when it started raining the moment we arrived at the New and never stopped.

We camped on my friend, Lydia McDonald's, beautiful property. She just purchased 33 acres in the secluded woods of Fayetteville, WV. She's got a great house, a pasture, and a barn...thank God for the barn. We found refuge there for a good part of the weekend.

Our camping adventure on Friday night was crazy. It was the biggest lightening/thunderstorm I have experienced in years...and we were in a tent. Cy did great until about 3am and then he woke up and said he wanted to sleep in his own bed. I opened my sleeping bag for him and he rolled in and snuggled up to me and fell right back to sleep. He is such a trooper!!

Saturday was wet and rainy so we grabbed breakfast at the Cathedral Cafe, hiked up to the Hole where I used to do a lot of climbing, and then celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Diogi's with Lydia.

I still had an awesome weekend up there and am looking forward to many more climbing weekends to come up that way this summer!!!

Mother's Day For My Mama!!

Happy Mother's Day, Mama!!

For Mother's Day this year I had a necklace like the one above made for my Mom from Etsy. I had the initials, L C L engraved in each heart. One for Lily, Cyrus, & Laurel...her three grandchildren. It's gold, and we're not really gold people but it's very delicate and dainty so I hope it works for her. I also got her a vial of our favorite scent, Love, from Auric blends. Let's hope she's pleseantly surprised this year:)

Business in the Woods

It is totally gross and inappropriate for me to tell you that Cyrus pooped in the woods for the first time while we were at the New. It wasn't planned and he was a bit freaked out but I am psyched! It makes life so much easier for him to be able to just go on the fly and not worry about diapers and potty seats and whatever. So, sorry for the share but this is a proud mama moment;)

Going "Bonkers"

My poor little man. I get a call from KinderCare yesterday (while I was on a field trip in Petersburg, Va) that Cy crashed while running and got a HUGE goose egg and bruise on his head:( I was worried to say the least because the first thing they said was they don't think he needed to go to the hospital. Ugh! So, I went by their judgement and called like every hour for the whole day until we got back. He was fine and acting normal (eating, sleeping, playing), thankfully.

I decided to take him to the pool for a quick swim after school because it was so hot and Brad gets home a little later on Wednesdays. When we were changing in the bathroom, he was bouncing (as usual) and hit a puddle on the tile floor and he feet went flying up, he twisted in the air, and came down on the other side of his head. Now, he has two matching goose eggs and bruises.

He is a maniac! Always running and bouncing and I am certain he is going to kill all of his brain cells by banging his head before he even gets to Elementary school!

*Side Note: Brad asked Cy where his head hurt and Cy pointed to his boo boo and said, "here, on my LEFT side". Seriously?! He is understanding left and right sides now apparently.  Baby Einstein:)

Rafting Adventure

Casey, Christy, Alison, & I went white water rafting on the James River on Sunday. It was supposed to be 63* and rainy but turned into a beautiful day. We were a foursome on the boat with our guide Attila, from Hungary. The river was at about 9' which makes it a Class V with lots of flow. The only hairy section was Hollywood Rapid which I am terrified of but our guide pulled us through and we survived it. It was a fabulous day for all of us!!!

Love this picture except i look like I had to pee. Boo.

Blue Man Group

Saturday evening, Alison, Casey, Christy, & I went to see the Blue Man Group at the Landmark Theatre. It was a really great show. I had seen them about 15 years ago in Australia and it was totally different this time but amazing nonetheless.

We started the evening off at Plaza Azteca where the food is delicious and the margaritas are "as big as your head" and finished the evening at Sweet Frogs.

I have made some wonderful friends here in Richmond and am so happy to be a part of this wonderful circle!!
