I found this AWESOME workbook for Cy, called School Sparks. It is full of preschool type activities focused around control of fine motor skills (writing, cutting, etc...). Cy loves it, he calls it his art book and tells me he wants to be an artist when he wants to work in it. He's doing a great job with is. Along those same lines, I've been trying to figure out what to do with him for kindergarten vs. preschool. He can't start at Collegiate until he's 5 (going on 6 in October) but I want him to start when he's 4 going on 5. So, after talking to a couple mom friends, they recommend him starting his Kindergarten year at Maybury Elementary right down the street and then repeating his Kindergarten year at Cougar Care the following year (5 going on 6). The benefits of this are saving $1000 a month in day care costs and him getting a full on curriculum based education at an actual school when he's ready for it rather than waiting. So, next year would be his last year in daycare and then he would start school. I don't want to rush him but he is a sponge and he LOVES learning and I want to foster that. So, I need to contact Maybury and see what kind of requirements that they have for him to enter Kindergarten and begin working on those skills now.
