Unity of Bon Air

I joined Unity Church of Bon Air today! I have been going to this church with my parents for the past couple weeks and can truly say that I have never found a church to be so inspiring or so full of genuine love and light as this church is. I used to go to the Unity Church in Naples a long long time ago but have not had the pleasure of finding another Unity home in all my many home locations for all these years. Steamboat did not have a Unity so I joined the Methodist church there and though I do appreciate the teachings of the Methodist church, I still never felt connected to the teachings or the Word there like I do within the Unity church. Brad calls it "hippie" church because it is so non-traditional. Not only is it non-denominational but it is also open to all people of race, creed, spirituality, gender, and affiliation. It is a safe place for members of the Gay and Lesbian community to come worship and feel part of the "God" community without having to feel shamed or like outsiders. There is also a lot of meditation and talk of Chakras which I appreciate. I have never been good at meditating and understand that there is some real and permanent good associated with allowing yourself time for mindfulness so I love that it is incorporated into the service each week. I can also see myself raising Cyrus in this church and allowing him to develop a real relationship with God in his own way without being told who God is or isn't and how he should appropriately worship "him".
I feel so good about this new step in my life and can't wait to grow within this community because I am definitely here to stay!
