Ok, so truth be told, I am THAT mom...rather, Brad is THAT Dad...either way, we did it, we missed a scheduled Dr.s appointment for Cy when he was 2 1/2 and I totally forgot about it for about about a month. Yep, we're awful. I was so excited for Brad to take him because A. he's never been to the Dr. with Cy since we had him basically and B. Cy needed one more shot and I wanted Dad to be a part of that. Well, clearly, he got out of this one!!
So, we rescheduled (with no mention of the great blunder) for Monday. We met with Dr. Joy again whom I really like. I am not attached to her, or any other Dr.s at this practice really, I think I will always miss my Dr.s and RNs at Steamboat Pediatrics but we have to move on. So, we met with Dr. Joy and she is really sweet with him. She's got a great bedside manner which I think is important. It was a quick check and she said he's doing great. She was super impressed with his vocabulary, he is such a talker, always has been and definitely does a bit more "real" talking than a lot of his friends that are his age but between Brad and I, I don't think anyone would be surprised by that:) He had a little prick done on his finger to test his hemoglobin levels and is still slightly anemic (darn it). Dr. Joy was a little irritated with me that I had not started him on the Flintstone Complete gummy vitamins yet but I was hoping to fix this with his diet rather than have to take that processed sugary supplement each day. But, I caved, and will do so for now. I am going to look into the Juice Plus+ chewables for kids and maybe try those instead, we'll see.
He needed to get his Hep A shot which I was a bit nervous about b/c he hasn't had an immunization in a year. He missed this at 2 because he was a bit under the weather at that visit so we postponed. So, this would be the first time that he realized that the nurse actually did it on purpose. Yikes! However, it went really well. Both the finger and the shot were uncomfortable for him but he was a champ!
Dr. Joy was also really impressed with how healthy Cy has been his whole life thus far, and to be honest, so am I. This child never gets sick! It's amazing. If he is sick for any reason, Brad and I argue over who gets to stay home with him because it happens so rarely. I can't say that we've ever gone to the Dr. because he wasn't feeling good that I can think of. When we first moved to VA, Cy had some issues adjusting to the allergens here but has since acclimated and is 100% again.
So, all in all, Cy is thriving and soaring. I find him absolutely amazing:)
