For Christmas this year, Jill presented me with her Miniature ring that Brad gifted her with during his Ring Figure during his Junior year at VMI. The Ring Figure event represents an important milestone in the life of a cadet, second only to graduation in importance. Each class is responsible for designing a unique ring, which incorporates symbols significant to the group. The elaborate Ring Figure tradition known to today's cadets dates to the 1920's; prior to that time, rings were received in a much more informal setting. Miniature versions of class rings are sometimes given to fiancées as engagement ring or to Mothers as a 'Mother's ring'.
Generally, when we go to VMI functions, most of the women wear their miniatures and the men always wear their rings. I am so so so glad to have one of my own now:) I love it. I need to send it off to have it resized because it's too big right now and I'm going to do that this week. I love it.
