Shawn & Kristen's wedding was on December 21, 2012. Brad and I rode up to Greencastle, PA with my parents on Friday morning. We arrived around 11:30 and the wedding was not until 5:30. They had most of the decorating and such done by time we got there so we all went out to a quick lunch before going back to the ceremony site for a run through of the wedding. After the rehearsal, Kristen and the girls split off to get their hair done and Shawn, Brad, & I went back to Shawn's house to have a glass of wine and let him unwind a bit before having to get dressed for the occasion. My cousin's and grandmother from Ohio arrived about 5:00, just in time.
The ceremony was nice. Shawn and Kristen asked me to be the Officiant and to write the ceremony. I have never done that before but I did have Jason McMonagle and Todd Cooke officiate Brad and my wedding so I had an idea how to start. The main theme of the ceremony was love (of course) and I think it was pretty good. It was exactly 10 minutes in length. Kristen's sister sang a song that she wrote for S&K and her father played the guitar, it was really nice. I thought the cool part of the ceremony was that it was in an old barn transferred into a museum and, this is where the reception was going to be as well. So, everyone got to sit at their dinner spots with appetizers while the ceremony was happening. It was informal and lovely. The food at the reception was not great, LOTS of butter. And, the caterers didn't bring enough plates for everyone to eat :( The cake was delicious though!!

Heading to the reception, they looked wonderful!! |
After the wedding we went back to Kristen's parents house for another reception type gathering, it was really fun. We stayed until about 11:30 before heading back to Kristen and Shawn's for the night (they stayed at a B&B) and met up with the cousin's and my grandmother in the morning for Brunch before heading back to VA. It was a quick trip but so much fun! I am so happy for my brother, I wish him a lifetime of love and happiness.
